The GSA offers a variety of funds for registered full time and part time graduate students. These funds are not meant to be a primary source of graduate student funding, but serve as a small additional aid.

Donations Request Fund
Guidelines
On the basis of budgetary allowances, funds may be available to help with the direct expenses of events, projects, or activities directly related to the well being of graduate students, undergraduate students, and community members. Direct expenses are defined as the cost of supplies, materials, services, etc expended on the project (ie photocopies, office supplies, travel). All events, projects, or activitites must uphold the equity mandate of the GSA.

Conference Support Fund
Guidelines
This fund is for students who are presenting or chairing sessions at conferences. This fund is not for students who are only attending conferences and it is not meant to be a primary source of funding for conferences.
The average amount of funding is 0.

Thesis Support Fund Application
Guidelines
This fund is designed to help defray the costs involved in MA and Ph.D. theses or major papers.
Direct expenses are defined as the cost of supplies, materials, services, etc. expended on the project.
Purchases of reusable/resaleable items such as computers, books and journals WILL NOT be covered.
The average amount of funding is $100.

This fund is for projects which help students develop overall skills in relation to their programme of study such as voluntary internships or apprenticeships, language training courses, or other training/education courses not offered at York.
This fund is NOT intended to cover costs associated with academic conferences but is for practical, skills-based training or other applied forms of skill development.
The average amount of funding is $100.

Emergency Loan Fund
Guidelines
The Emergency Loan Fund (ELF) is available to full time members of the GSA (full time graduate students), except for those who will not be enrolled for at least one term past the term of application.
The maximum loan is $250 and must be paid in full before a new loan can be issued. Loans must be repaid within four months (and can be paid in installments), or prior to the termination of the borrowers academic programme at York (whichever comes first).
You may apply for an ELF at any point during the year. ELF's are available year round.
